About Michael Matouk, PhD cPLLC

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with 36 years of experience in practice. I’m licensed in Michigan, with a portability license allowing me to practice in Florida, where I run my independent clinical practice today.

Over the years, my clinical work has spanned a wide range of presentations — including, more recently, a growing focus on near-death experiences and their psychological aftermath. I’ve worked with a considerable number of NDE experiencers in therapy, helping with adjustment after the experience, communication with significant others and other relationships, grief and end-of-life anxiety, and post-NDE depression. I also consult with clinicians seeking guidance on how to treat their own clients, and give presentations for assisted living centers, hospital settings, and church groups. The Community Mind grew out of this work: a place to bring clinical, research-informed thinking to experiences that are often dismissed, pathologized, or simply left unspoken.

I’m also a nonfiction author. My forthcoming book, examining near-death experiences through clinical, scientific, and philosophical lenses, is nearing completion and expected in late 2026.
